{summer in snapshots} week four

Our week was shortened due to our beach vacation, which I promise to post about soon.

So, I have photos from Wednesday through Sunday.

Wednesday and Thursday we were just trying to get back into the swing of things after our vacation. The only photo I took is of the kids in baby girls crib!

Friday we went to playgroup and I did not bring my camera…oops! ¬†Needless to say, the kids got messy playing in the water and sand at Tualatin Community Park!

Friday night, as promised, we turned the little guys bed around so the ladder to his top bunk is no longer against the wall. There is a photo of him sleeping in the top bunk for the first time.

Saturday and Sunday we spent lots of time together as a family…it was great!

Playing in a tent.

Eating s’mores.

Going for a run.

At the pool.

On a walk in the neighborhood.

Good times.

home is…summer is going too fast.

*linking up with The {Starfish} Blog again this week…

I have been searching for the perfect bedding for years.

Last night I found it.

Sunflower Organic Duvet Cover & Sham

In the pages of my Pottery Barn catalog.

If you know me in real life, you know I LOVE sunflowers.

And, now I know where my “sunflowers” sign from the Farm Chicks show will go!

Now, I just need to call the painters to get the horrible chair rail and “duck blind” faux finish off our bedroom walls.

Oh, this is going to be a fun before and after post!

By the way, I am also working on another bedroom redesign…for the little guy!

And, someday soon, before she is big enough to move out of her crib, I will be finished with baby girls room.

I promise some photos!

Stay tuned…

home is…being patient for the right one.

worth it

We had such a perfect lazy day today that I gave in to a beer (or two) this evening in the beautiful Pacific Northwest sunlight.

I’ve already forgiven myself, so I hope you won’t hold it against me.

My workout today was paddling up the Tualatin River with Ryan and the kiddos.

The little guy caught his first wild fish this morning with Ryan, and we ventured out in a canoe up the Tualatin River this afternoon.

I never thought we would get a four year old and an almost two year old in a boat, but we did it!

It was spur of the moment decision when we saw the Tualatin River Keepers renting canoes and kayaks at the boat launch at Cook Park today.

It was worth it.

Later, we played in the backyard in a tent, made the cozy coupe into a Batmobile, and ate elk for dinner.

On this Saturday night, life is good.

home is…a fun day down at the river.

been slacking

Since April I have found every excuse to not get back into my exercise routine.

After getting walking pneumonia it took a while to feel up to exercising. And, for the last month I have had a stiff neck and sore back that has limited my mobility.

I also eat terribly when Ryan travels and he has been traveling a lot with his new job.

Add it all up and I am feeling…mushy.

I still fit in my clothes, but I just don’t feel good.

Today I started to change that.

I went to the club and did a yoga class AND a weight lifting class.

We go to New York in less than 2 weeks and my goal is to workout and eat well everyday until we leave.

That means…

  • NO desserts
  • NO soda (Coca-Cola is my weakness)
  • NO fast food (specifically, McDonald’s french fries and Sonic Mozzarella Sticks)
  • NO alcohol (yep, no wine or beer)
It also means…
  • exercise EVERYDAY
  • drink at least 100 oz. of water EVERYDAY
  • go to bed by 10 pm EVERYDAY
  • eat fruits and vegetables EVERYDAY
I feel better when I am exercising regularly, eating good food, and getting enough sleep.
So, you all can help keep me accountable.
Check in with me.
Make sure I am not making excuses.
home is…not feeling mushy.
